Implementation of the LRM in RDA

The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) agreed at its November 2016 meeting to adopt the draft IFLA Library Reference Model (LRM) as a conceptual model for the development of RDA: Resource Description and Access, replacing the Functional Requirements family of models (FRBR, FRAD, and FRSAD) that are superseded by the LRM.

RDA Board Appointments

The RDA Board is pleased to announce the results of the recent appointments process which was undertaken at the end of 2016. This marks the formal adoption of the new governance structure by the Board and in particular a change from specific constituents being represented on Board to National Institution Representatives for each region.

RSC Meetings and Outreach in 2017

The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) will meet twice in 2017.

The first meeting will take place on May 17-19 2017 in Chicago, USA, at ALA Headquarters.

The second meeting will take place in Madrid, Spain, at Biblioteca Nacional de España. Dates for the three-day meeting in October or early November 2017 will be announced in due course.

3R Project: Update from 2016 Frankfurt Meeting

This announcement provides updated information about the 3R Project (RDA Toolkit Restructure and Redesign Project) resulting from discussions held at the RDA Steering Committee meeting in Frankfurt am Main 7-11 November 2016.

RSC Meeting in Frankfurt 7-11 November 2016: Update

The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) just concluded a productive meeting at the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. This message is the first of several that—in addition to the forthcoming and more detailed Outcomes document—provides basic information about decisions taken.

The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) acknowledges special contributions by individuals who have completed their service on the RSC, who have been members of Working Groups, who have otherwise contributed to the development of the RDA text or related services, who have made local arrangements for RSC meetings, or who have contributed to the promotion of RDA by arranging and/or participating in related events.

Protocols and Liaisons between the RDA Steering Committee and Other Information Standards Groups

The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) establishes communication protocols with other information standards groups.

General purposes include
-- supporting communication and notification of decisions related to development of the separate standards
-- supporting the maintenance and development of functional interoperability between data created according to the different standards.
