Implementing Official RDA

countdown clock.jpg

With the countdown clock having started for Original RDA's retirement, institutions have begun to implement Official RDA. This page collates information about implementations the RSC has shared at outreach events or on its news page.

If you are implementing Official RDA and would like to be featured on our RSC news page and here, please get in touch with RSC Secretary Anne Welsh - RSCsecretary@rdatoolkit.org

DACH (Germany (D), Austria (A), Switzerland (CH)) Region

The DACH Region is one of the first to respond to the 3R Project, implementing Projekt 3R-DACH-Bib in Autumn 2023.

At our Outreach Event in October 2023, co-organised in Vienna with Die Österreichische Bibliothekenverbund und Service GMbH (OBVSG), we heard presentations about RDA DACH from Barbara Pfeifer (DNB) and RDA in Austria from Christoph Steiger (MDW).

In 2024, at our Outreach Event hosted in Washington by the Library of Congress, Renate Behrens presented on 'The RDA-DACH manual and the DACH Documentation Platform'. You can watch the recording here

Michaela Edelmann and Mathias Manecke from the DNB (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek) gave a live demonstration of the RDA Dach Manual at the Public Session of the RSC in January 2025. The presentation and Q&A is available on the RDA Toolkit YouTube Channel.

Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa National Library of New Zealand (NLNZ)

The NLNZ is the first of the libraries in the Anglo-American cataloguing community to implement Official RDA, and has been sharing its training materials on Niche Academy

At our Outreach Event in November 2024, hosted by the Library of Congress, Charlotte Christensen gave a presentation on 'Implementing Official RDA'. You can watch the recording here, beginning at 01:00:43.

Ebe Kartus is presenting an update on the NLNZ implementation at the Public Session of the RSC on 8 April 2024. We will share the recording on this page as soon as it is available.
