Having presented it to the RDA Board and Steering Committee at their Joint Meeting on Monday 7 April, the RSC Chair and Secretary are pleased to publish the RSC Annual Report for 2024 (RSC/AnnualReport/2024)

Highlights of the year included the RSC November Meeting in Washington, hosted by ALA's Washington Office (pictured) and by Judith Cannan at the Library of Congress. The Outreach Day co-organised with the Library of Congress (with special thanks to then NARDAC Chair Clara Liao and the rest of the LC team) included presentations on two major implementations following the 3R Project - RDA-DACH and Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa National Library of New Zealand. These were followed in January by a live demonstration in January from Michaela Edelmann and Mathias Manecke from the DNB (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek) of the STA Documentation Platform and on Tuesday by Ebe Kartus's demonstration of cataloguing using Official RDA at NLNZ (recording available soon).

Also in November, we were fortunate to hear updates from Sally McCallum, Paul Frank and Kevin Ford (Library of Congress) on BIBFRAME with RDA. As RSC Chair Renate Behrens shared yesterday (8 April), a major piece of work that is nearing its conclusion is an official protocol with the BIBFRAME Community represented by the Share Family / Share VDE. Please watch this space for further news.

Education and Orientation Officer Elisa Sze completed a major piece of work with the publication of RDA Training & Teaching Tips. Building on her 2022 Report on Approaches to Teaching RDA in the LIS Classroom (RSC/Papers/2022/1), it includes key points from the report and identifies concepts and issues that educators may wish to consider prior to teaching with RDA Toolkit. It also offers ideas for how to integrate RDA into a variety of courses. The selection of topics covered in the handout was informed by Elisa’s conversations with educators and trainers undertaken in 2022-2023, as well as feedback collected during and after her February 2023 webinar. The handout is also available in Spanish. Then in November, Template RDA and Teaching Slides were shared, which Elisa Sze developed for educators to adapt, customize, and use in various teaching settings.

The Annual Report includes summaries of each of the Proposals that were approved by the RSC in 2024 (including Fast Track Proposals) as well as links to presentations and outreach by members of the RSC. We hope that it will provide a useful reminder to members of the wider RDA community who have been following our activities and will serve as an introduction to those who are new to our work.

Renate Behrens thanks everyone for their interest in the maintenance and development of RDA.
