New CILIP JSC member
Galen Jones joined the Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA (JSC) on January 1, 2014. He replaced Gordon Dunsire, now the Chair of JSC, as the representative of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP).

Galen Jones is the principal Standards Officer at Llyfrgell Genedlaethol
Cymru (The National Library of Wales) in Aberystwyth. He commenced
employment at the NLW in 2001 after graduating from the University of
Wales in Information and Library Studies BSc(Econ).
He first served as an Assistant Librarian; cataloguing a range of
print and electronic material for the UK Shared Cataloguing Programme
and The Bibliography of Wales. He was also the local coordinator for
NLW's contributions to the CONSER Program and a member of the CONSER
Operations Committee.
In 2006 Galen was appointed to the role of Systems Librarian to assist
with the implementation of a new ILS and staff training. Galen
subsequently moved to work for NLW's Standards Unit (Bibliographic Data
Division) in 2008.
He is currently responsible for developing the NLW staff's expertise in
creating and maintaining bibliographic, archival, authority and holdings
data. He leads NLW's authority control team and is the local coordinator
for the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) Name and Subject
Authority Cooperative Programs.
Galen is a qualified PRINCE2 practitioner and is the NLW's RDA
implementation Project Manager. He has served on the CILIP/BL RDA
Committee for the last two years.
