Invitation to RSC's Public Session (online) on 16 July 2024

Invitation to RSC's Public Session (online) on 16 July 2024

It is three weeks until the RSC's next Public Session, and we hope that you will be interested to attend as an observer.

As well as our usual updates, we will be discussing the latest proposal from the Religions in RDA Working Group, RSC/ReligionsWG/2024/1.

There will also be an introduction to the much-anticipated Discussion Paper from the Extent Working Group. We have published RSC/ExtentWG/2024/1 so that you can see the current thinking of the Working Group, with the caveat that they are, of course, working to keep RDA in step with IFLA developments, and, as you know, ISBD for Manifestations is also being discussed at the moment. It may be that a revised paper will have to be issued, but both RSC Chair Renate Behrens and Extent Working Group Chair Thomas Brenndorfer are keen to share this paper with you as soon as possible. Please note: this paper will be introduced at the July RSC Meeting, but its constituency consultation will be ongoing until at least mid-October, when it is intended that a full discussion will be scheduled for the November Public Session of the RSC Meeting.

The July Public Session will take place via Zoom on 16 July 2024, 9-11pm Central European Summer Time (CEST) (as announced at https://www.rdatoolkit.org/news/rsc/call-host-institution-rsc-meeting-november-2024). There is a handy time converter at https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.html where you can work out the time in your own time zone.

If you would like to attend as an online observer, please let the secretary, Anne Welsh, know: RSCsecretary@rdatoolkit.org and she will be happy to send you joining instructions.

We will publish the full agenda after the conclusion of the RDA Board Meeting in San Diego this week.
