2024 Fall NARDAC Update Forum
Are you interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cataloging? Do you wonder how to streamline the cataloging process by automating repetitive tasks and ensuring consistency in metadata creation? What is the impact, including potential uses and threats, of AI presents in the production of RDA?
If you have the questions above, please join us for 2024 Fall NARDAC Update Forum: October 21, 2024 at 2pm CST. Click here to register.
The North American RDA Committee (NARDAC) invites Dr. Ahava Cohen, the chair of the Joint RDA Board and RSC Working Group on Artificial Intelligence, to give an update of the working group.
We are also thrilled to invite Dr. Hannes Lowagie, the head of the Agency for Bibliographic Information in Royal Library of Belgium (KBR), the National Library of Belgium and the vice-chair of EURIG. Dr. Lowagie is working on the transition to RDA, Linked Open Data and the use of AI-technologies in the cataloguing process. His presentation “Isn't there an App for that? Using PowerApps and AI for Automated Cataloguing and more” explores the transformative potential of Microsoft PowerApps, focusing on the use of AI components for the detection and enhancement of metadata.
Dr. Lowagie will also demonstrate other crucial tasks that PowerApps can assist with in the realm of cataloguing, such as creating an RDA application profile, which is linked to an automated validation file that can be used to ensure individual records conform to the RDA application profile standards.
