Starting 2024 with a Permanent RSC Education and Orientation Officer
The RDA Steering Committee is pleased to announce that its Education and Orientation Officer role has been approved by the RDA Board to become a permanent position on the RSC after a two-year co-option. Elisa Sze, who has been serving in this role, has agreed to extend her term through to December 2025.
The Education and Orientation Officer facilitates effective RDA instruction relating to the RDA Toolkit and encourages and supports communities in their adoption of RDA. This role has included liaising with LIS education communities to build an informal network of RDA educators/experts, identifying opportunities for RDA education and orientation internationally, and collaborating on the creation of general orientation and instructional materials. The Education and Orientation Officer is also an ex-officio member of the recently constituted Examples Working Group.
Elisa Sze is a metadata librarian at the University of Toronto Libraries and a sessional instructor at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Information (iSchool), where she teaches a cataloguing course for its Master of Information program. Her research interests revolve around technical services and Canadian library history, and her works have appeared in Cataloging & Classification Quarterly, Information & Culture (University of Texas Press), and the edited collection Transforming technical services through training and development (ALA Editions, 2022).
