RDA Steering Committee Chair and Others From the Field of Cataloguing Receive IFLA Awards
RDA Board were delighted to see that Gordon Dunsire, Chair of the RDA Steering Committee, was acknowledged with an IFLA Medal in the closing ceremony of the 2016 World Library and Information Congress in Columbus, Ohio last week. The medal is awarded to international librarians who have made an outstanding contribution to their field, and Gordon was recognised for his distinguished service to IFLA and international librarianship, advancing the field of bibliographic data, linked data, and the semantic web.
RDA Board also would like to extend their congratulations to two other members of the community acknowledged at the ceremony:
- Dorothy McGarry was awarded the IFLA scroll of appreciation for her distinguished service to IFLA and global librarianship especially through an outstanding commitment to advancing cataloguing, classification and indexing standards and practices.
- The New Professionals Special Interest Group, convened by Maria Violeta Bertolini, was awarded the IFLA Professional Unit Communication Award.
