ALA Publishing, acting on the behalf of the Copyright Holders of RDA: Resource Description and Access, has signed an agreement with Federação Brasileira de Associações de Bibliotecários (FEBAB) in which the São Paulo-based organization will be responsible for the translation of the Portuguese-language version of the cataloguing, RDA: Resource Description and Access.

This past November the La Biblioteca Nacional de España (BNE) announced that it will adopt RDA as the standard for cataloging its collection. The English translation of the announcement follows. The Spanish version of the announcement can be found here.

Special Release to RDA Toolkit -- Italian RDA jhennelly Tue, 03/08/2016 - 11:05

On March 8th, RDA Toolkit published the Italian language translation of RDA. The new translation is accessible to all with a subscription to RDA Toolkit. Users whose browser language preference is set to Italian will be automatically logged into the Italian version of RDA. Users may also log into to their profiles and set Italian as their preferred language. This special March release was added to enable RDA training in Italian to proceed with access to translation. The translation is complete through the April 2014 update to RDA.

Announcing the Italian translation of RDA

In 2014 ALA Publishing, on behalf of the RDA Co-Publishers, signed an agreement on the Italian language rights translation in RDA: Resource Description and Access with the Central Institute for the Union Catalogue of Italian Libraries (ICCU) that is responsible for the translation of the Italian language version of the new cataloguing standard. ICCU acquires the exclusive license for the Italian translation of the standard and it is licensed to publish the digital version in RDA Toolkit.

On December 8 RDA Toolkit published the Finnish language translation of RDA and an update to the Spanish language translation. The Finnish translation is accessible to all with a subscription to RDA Toolkit. Finnish Translation of RDA Ready Anonymous (not verified) Wed, 12/02/2015 - 00:26

On December 8th a Finnish language translation of RDA will be published on RDA Toolkit. This work is the end result of an agreement reached last year between the Co-Publishers of RDA and the National Library of Finland. The translation is a important step in the implementation of RDA as a cataloging standard in Finland, and the national Library of Finland is committed to updating and maintaining Finnish RDA so that it is current with the changes to the original (English language) RDA text. The translation to be published on December 8th is current through the April 2015 update to RDA.

The Committee of Principals for RDA has issued the following statement dated 29 May 2015: RDA is a package of data elements, guidelines, and instructions for creating library and cultural heritage resource metadata that are well-formed according to international models for user-focussed linked data applications. RDA has always been a continually evolving standard that aims to reflect the requirements of the cataloguing, metadata and description community.
